The Brazilian Keratin Straightening Treatment allows you to have beautifully straight hair without the commitment of a relaxer and without the worry of the damage from adding another chemical to your hair. With the Brazilian Keratin Straightening Treatment your hair gradually returns back to its normal state with no line of demarcation from being straightened.
The Brazilian Keratin system uses keratin, which is what hair is made of, to restructure the hair from within and give you the look of healthy strong hair that you once had. A formula of .02% formaldehyde is used as a catalyst to allow the keratin to penetrate the hair shaft. This percentage of formaldehyde is much lower than what is legally allowed to be used in common products today. With the addition of heat from blow drying and then flat ironing the hair, the cuticle layer of the hair is closed allowing the keratin to remain in the hair shaft. The keratin is slowly released from the hair shaft through washings, therefore, the more you wash, the more keratin released. Valón Salon & Day Spa recommends that you wait 24 hours before your first shampoo as well as using a sulfate-free shampoo to reduce the product release. This will allow your treatment to last between 3 to 4 months depending on your hair’s texture, porosity, and shampoo regime.
